Here are some old machine component animations.
The 3D wireframe geometry was created with Cadkey, then DXF'd into 3D Studio (DOS Version 3!!!) for animating. The original file formats were .FLI and .FLC. I just finally got around to converting them to animated GIFs so they can be viewed in a browser. Unfortunately, the conversion does some strange things to the color.

Anyway, I think I did these around '94 while I was still working in the engineering department at Viking Engineering. Crude by today's standards but this was like rocket science back then.

Compensating Nail Chuck , the heart of tandem nailors.

Star Turner and Bed Conveyor , the best updates we ever made to a MAX

Quick Release for Clearing Nail Jams , this update is one of the most popular with operators.

Not long after I did these, I went totally off the deep end and transferred to the IT department.
